How to become a successful streamer

When you start streaming you don't know anything, you don't know what you're doing and that's OKAY. I'm going to help you in this blog. I'm going to help you hold your hand trying to see what I can do to help you of course I don't know you, YOU. because there's hundreds of people reading this blog hopefully maybe there's only going to be a couple of people reading this blog then hey I'm glad I could help you.

I can't tailor it to your specific needs but I'm going to try and do my best anyway if you have any questions during this series make sure to leave them in my Discord server. I'm going to try and do my best to answer them in this series.

The first thing I want to touch upon is do you even want to become a twitch streamer, because I've seen so many people that want to become a twitch streamer because they're sick of their job. They just want to become something different than they already are, and if you want to do something else for a job because you're sick of the job you're doing right now; I do recommend just quiting and go work somewhere else. Luckily for you they literally need people everywhere so it's easier to find a nowadays than it is back in the days, but I can tell you making money as a twitch streamer is really really REALLY going to be hard. So if you're going to quit your job to become a twitch streamer, it's not really going to be as easy as you think it is.

For those of you thinking, "Oh, if I just get Twitch Affiliate, I will make it," yes, you can earn money, but if nobody donates to you, then you still don't make any. You still need people to contribute for you to succeed. Sure, you now have the option to earn money, but people still need to give it to you. It's like setting up a PayPal account—your friends now have the option to send you money on PayPal, but are they actually sending you money? They're not, right?

Another thing I want to touch upon is that being successful is subjective. For some people, being successful means becoming the next big streamer, like Pokimane, becoming super popular, and being one of the biggest streamers around. But for others, it might just mean having 100 followers on Twitch or even averaging one viewer per stream. It’s a big difference, right? I can't define success for you, so it’s hard for me to tailor my blog to everyone's definition of success. However, what I do know is that I can help you reach your full potential, and that’s what I aim to do in these blogs.

I want to keep these blogs short and sweet, but I also want to include something actionable in each one. In this blog, I want you to create a SMART goal. Before we dive into all the blogs, you need to set a goal so we can determine whether or not you've been successful. If you don't know what you’re working towards, you won't know if you've been successful in achieving it, right? The way to set goals is to make them SMART—not just smart in the traditional sense, but SMART as in Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. These are known as SMART goals.

The first time I learned about SMART goals was when I was studying marketing in university. I never finished my degree, by the way, in case you're wondering if I have a marketing degree. But I’m pretty sure SMART goals are used everywhere. They're really effective because they're specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. That’s the whole point—they make it easy to see whether you’ve achieved your goals.

So, that’s what I want to do with you: set up some goals so you’ll know if you’ve achieved them by the end of this series. If I don’t set SMART goals, what I usually do is keep moving the goalposts. For example, I might set a goal of getting 1,000 followers, but then the next day I think, "If only I had 1,100 followers," and then, "If only I had 1,200 followers." You'll never be happy with what you’re achieving, and you'll never take the time to look back at what you have accomplished.

Now, it’s time to click that "Live" button and just go live. Try your best, because if you don’t go live and practice, you’re not going to get better. You’ll never become a successful streamer if you don’t actually do it, right? So, just click that "Live" button and go for it.

Although I'm saying this, I realize it’s a lot harder to actually click that "Live" button than it sounds. It’s not just about clicking a button and going with it. Because it's harder than it seems, we're going to talk about that in the next blog in the series. Read It Here!
