How To Network For Twitch Streamers

Don’t try and network with people where the chat is going so fast you can’t read it anymore. These people are impossible for you to reach unless you already know them or unless your also on the same level as them.

When networking ask yourself if the streamer is somebody you actually like. Would you like to hang out with this person? As this is the goal. The chance of you making friends in the chat is a LOT bigger this way,

YES friends as you don’t just network with the streamer but you also network with the viewers! Those are also potential friends or viewers.

I am differentiating between those as not every viewer will feel as a friend and not every friend will become a regular viewer and that’s OKAY.

Have a defined brand. Know what your stream is about so others know where you are about. As soon as someone clicks on your name after they have seen you in a chat or after you got a shoutout they know if they are going to like your content. It’s going to help other streamers to shout you out as well as they are going to more easily say something more than ‘go follow Trui', they know more about you and will quicker say something like ‘Trui also plays many Nintendo games so if you like those go follow her’. This way they tell their audience why you are similar to them and convince them why to follow.

How would you go about the networking itself when in chat? Start with saying hello and become the perfect viewer! Just think about what the perfect chatter would do. Greet new people that come in, ask questions about the game, help when the streamer has questions etc. Do not only talk to the streamer but also reply to other peoples chat messages. You will get noticed this way!

You can also join their Discord server to chat in there when they are not live. If you want to you can join mine. Link is down below in the description. You don’t have to join 100 Discord servers and keep up with all of them but try to be active in a couple of them.

If you are part of a community and find out that the streamer or audience isn’t for you it’s find to leave. Especially if they change their streaming style and start attracting a new audience.

When you network do not say you are a streamer unless people are asking you if you are a streamer. Make sure you connect your Twitch to Discord and fill out your Twitch profile properly and people WILL find out easily if they click on your name. You can also raid the streamer and everyone instantly knows you are a streamer yourself.

If you see that there are other streamers in the community that you are trying to invest in, follow them to and pay them a visit. It’s not a close loop you can include as many people as you can handle to interact with. But remember: Quality networking over Quantity networking!

Now you are ready to collab with other streamers! Read more about that here.
